BOOKING INFO

If you have booked a gig at the DownTown or are just considering it, this is what you should expect:

Thursday Nights:

Thursdays are our "New Band Showcase".  This likely means that you have never played here before OR you have played here before but there just aren't enough days in the weekend to get you in so you are doing another Thursday show.

The "House System" is already set up and available for your use at no charge.  (see below for details)  You will need to bring your own mics, stands, cables, etc.  We open at 8 PM and showtime is between 10:00 and 10:30 PM (depending on the length of your set).  Many artists have had success playing two shorter sets, one around 10:00 and another around 11:30.  Set up and soundcheck times are at your discretion.  You may plug the tip jar all night long.  If its a slow night, we'll pass the tip jar ourselves and convince the patrons to fill it.  If you're not heavy drinkers, we'll usually cover your bar tab (food is full price).  The sale of merchandise is encouraged.  Any questions, just e-mail alan@thedowntown.net .  

Friday and Saturday Nights:

The "House System" is already set up and available for your use for a rental/maintenance fee of $20.  This is a total for the evening and comes straight from the door.  On a slow night, the system rental may be reduced or waived at the house's discretion.  If you'd prefer to use your own system to save this expense or because that's just how you do your shows, please let me know in advance.  Also, please expect the other band or bands on the bill to use it as well since we cannot take down and set up the entire system between sets.  In either case, you will need to bring your own mics, stands, cables, etc.  Each band member is permitted one guest.  We provide the doorman and collect $5.00 a head at the door.  The house receives 20% of the door take and the bands receive 80%.  If the DownTown provides the opening band, each band will receive 40%, while if we book one band and that band provides its opener, we will give that band the 80% and allow them to compensate their opener in whatever way they choose.  Band members are welcome to $1.00 domestics and half price imports all night (food is full price).  The sale of merchandise is encouraged.  Any questions, just e-mail alan@thedowntown.net .  

The "House System" includes the following:

Sixteen channel Carvin mixer

Carvin HTM 1000 amp for the mains

Carvin HTM 760 amp for the monitors

Two Peavey SP2-ti mains and

Two Peavey Subcompact 18 subs

Two Carvin 722 monitors and

Two Carvin 742 monitors

AND ME to help get your sound set up for the show.
